Edition of the magazine UTOPIA – ESPAÇO & amp; SOCIEDADE, printed in 1979 at the Faculty of Engineering of the UP, and ECOLOGIA, printed in 1980 at Cooperativa Árvore.
These two magazines, which at the time were in the hands of two (now famous) ESBAP students, Graça Martins and Isabel de Sá, who were responsible for bringing to life the texts that Jacinto Rodrigues typed for his classes, adding their illustrations to the writings, those of José Rodrigues and Paulo Maria, drawn directly on the photocopied manuscripts, which would then go to print and be bound in a totally handmade process with their ecological side in mind. Today, they are reissued by Editora Exclamação in their original form as a diptych.

UTOPIA and ECOLOGY summarise Jacinto Rodrigues' holistic thinking, integrating and harmonising everything into a vision that we would today call sustainability, but which at that time was considered utopian and unattainable.
The magazines' contemporary relevance is astonishing: even today, they are fundamental milestones in the vision of sustainability and environmental protection, summarising thoughts on nuclear energy, energy autonomy, renewable energies, with emphasis on Father Himalaya's magnificent pyreliophore, or biogas, land use planning, sustainable urbanism, efficient architecture, ecology, art and poetry, among others, because after all, it was with poetry that it all began!
